1. Alpslke pokrajne/ Alps region
Blue parts on the map is Alps region. It is located the northwestern parts of Slovenia, there are mountain chains over 1500m high, and surrounding by valleys. The region is categorised "Forest Line", which means that high trees can not grow. Most of mountain chains consists of lime stones, so it is called high mountain karst region (Visokogorski kras).

The most highest mountain in Slovenia is Trigrav (2864m), which is on Julian Alps. It is really beautiful place, but there is less inhabitants and there is less possibility of economical development.
However this plave is nice for pasturing, hiking, and cycling in the summer season, and also in the winter season, here is popular destination for skiers. Jesenice, Bovec, and Kranska gora are famous town in Julian Alps region.

Pred means in Slovenian langauge, "before". Therefore this region starts from the lower parts of Alps region, and continueds to northeastern part of Slovenia. It is quiet big region in Slovenia. There are no mountain chains over 1500m. The surface is not sharp, and there is no forest line.
Geographical structure is similar to Alps region, but its mountain chains are narrow. Some mountains develop widely, then we can see some basins. In the basins the agriculture is active. The around basin is populated, and they have livestocks. Not only agriculture, but also industry is also active.

3. Dinarske pokrajne/ Dinarska region
Postojna cave. White lime stones are beautiful... |
Dinarska region is located to the southern Slovenia. Because of there are lot of limestons and dolomits in the soils, there is the most strongest karst influence in the Dinarska region. Postojna cave is also in Dinarska region. Dinarska region is divided into two regions, high in the west side, and low in the eastern side.
Further, there is the most forested region, thus the forest industry was popular. However, there is not other industry.
Ribnica, Kočevlje, Postojna and Novo mesto are in Dinarska region.

Primorska region is located southwestern Slovenia. Compare to Dinarska region, there is lot of population and it is dense. There is Luka Koper, which is the important port in Slovenia and called "window to the world". Tourism, agriculture (olives and fruits), fish industry are active in Primorska region. Climate is similar to Mediterranean and less snowing. It sounds comfortable, but in the winter season, really strong wind Burja blows. Thus, Primorska region becomes quite in winter...
Primorska region is also divided into two region; Flysch region and Kurst region. Both of lands has a lot of limestone.

Pannonia region is northeastern of Slovenia. There is lot of flat lands, so there is high possibility for agriculture and pasture. Climate is also dry and less precipitation. We can drink good and sweet white wine. However, it is far from Ljubljana, and traffic connection is really bad. It makes the economical development slowly.
