From 14 to 17 August, I went to Bulgaria with my friends!
What do you imagine about Bulgaria?
What do you imagine about Bulgaria?
- Yogurt
- Kotoosyu (Sumo wrestler from Bulgaria)
Maybe Japanese people imagine these two things when they hear "Bulgaria".
Bulgaria is one of the Balkans countries and had been part of the Ottoman Empire since the 14th century.
In Tivoli resolution of 1909 which is conference held in Ljubljana, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bulgaria made an agreement to establish autonomous South Slavic state, however during the Second Balkan War, Bulgaria fought against Serbia. Serbia defeated decisively Bulgaria. The First World War, Bulgaria was also one of the defeated countries. By 1991 Bulgaria was under the communist regime. Anyway, Bulgaria has complicated and rich history.
I decided to go to Bulgaria suddenly when my friend who has lived in Ljubljana for 10 years, invited me to go to Bulgaria. She plays softball in Ljubljana, then the tournament was held in Bulgaria.
It took for 12 hours by car! I leaved Ljubljana at 6:00am, then run through Serbian and Croatian borders we arrived in Bulgaria!
See! I took a photo of this landscape from a car. It was so beautiful!
It's sooo complicated moving!
Now I am wondering where I am going to for next trip!

These 6 photos are Rila Monastery! The Rila Monastery is cultural and historical symbol in Bulgaria. Of course tourists visit to here from all over the world. The Rila Monastery is Orthodox church and built in the 10th century. The monastery is the most popular sightseeing spot not only of Bulgaria, but also of the Eastern Europe!! I did not learn about that before visited here, so I regret little bit. If I understood well, I would enjoy more and more!
Yeees! Maybe it was first time in my life to watch softball game! Greece, Bulgaria, France, Ukraine and Britain gathered! Slovene girls had amazing game!! I yelled for them with my friends with beeer! One draft beer (400ml) is 1.5 Lev! It means about 0.8 Euro! So cheaaap and delicious :*
By the way, I tell audiences interesting story!
When I buy some food in supermarket in Bulgaria, I order salesman, like,,
"Can I have 100g of chicken and 100g potatoes??"
And he shook his head right and left! I thought my English was strange or he did not listen very well, then I repeated slowly and spoke more big voice. But he brought me foods before I finished speaking!
What, what , whaaaat?
In Bulgaria, when you wanna show YES, you have to shake your head! But you wanna show NO, you have to nod! It's sooo complicated moving!
Now I am wondering where I am going to for next trip!
